In The Accidental Rewrite, Polly loses her memory. And when you write about something like this, you have to get it right. Memory loss because of physical head trauma often means you don’t get your memories back but if it’s caused by psychological trauma, a block, then you have more room to play with because it’s your own brain doing the holding back of info, often as a way of protecting you.
